Capacity

1. Human Resources Capability

VEAM currently comprises 27 member units, including wholly state-owned limited liability companies, joint-stock companies, affiliated companies, dependent branches, and one research institute. These member units employ over 20,000 staff and workers engaged in the manufacturing and trading of machinery and spare parts serving agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and transportation sectors.

Approximately 10% of this workforce holds university degrees or higher qualifications, while the majority are highly skilled technicians. These technical personnel possess extensive hands-on experience and have received formal training both domestically and overseas.

2. Production and Manufacturing Capability

VEAM is a leading enterprise in Vietnam in the production and business of power equipment, agricultural machinery, tractors, automobiles, motorcycles, land and marine transport vehicles, and other mechanical equipment.

Equipped with modern and fully integrated machinery and production systems, VEAM independently manages the entire manufacturing process—from steel and iron smelting, casting and blank production, mechanical machining, heat treatment, final assembly, to installation and commissioning.

Annual Production Capacity:

  • Internal combustion engines: 60,000 units
  • Tractors (various types): 5,500 units
  • Generators: 3,000 units
  • Other agricultural machinery: 2,000 units
  • Trucks: 3,000 units
  • Spare parts (various types): 50,000,000 units

3. Investment Capability

Fully recognizing the critical role of investment in production development, VEAM has proactively managed and implemented major investment projects in recent years to support its production growth. Notable projects include:

  • The relocation and technological upgrade project at VEAM Foundry (VF) with a total investment of VND 165 billion
  • The VEAM Automobile Plant in Thanh Hoa Province with a total investment of VND 700 billion
  • Dozens of additional projects aimed at enhancing the production capacity of member units, with cumulative investments amounting to hundreds of billions of VND

These projects have been timely commissioned, significantly contributing to VEAM’s stable and sustainable growth.

Key Facilities:

  • VEAM Automobile Plant (Thanh Hoa):

    • Designed annual capacity: 30,000 trucks
    • Commenced operations in 2009
    • Features the most modern and fully integrated production lines in Southeast Asia
  • Casting Mold Manufacturing Capability (VEAM Foundry – VF):

    • Furan mold-making system (Italy): 2,500 tons/year
    • Green sand mold-making system (Taiwan): 1,500 tons/year
    • Fully automated green sand casting line (imported from Sinto, Japan): 8,600 tons/year

To meet stringent customer quality requirements (ISO, JIS, DIN standards), and in addition to maintaining ISO 9001 quality management certification, VF has invested in advanced testing and inspection equipment, including:

  • 3D scanning machines
  • Optical emission spectrometers
  • CE testing machines
  • Metallographic microscopes
  • Hardness testers
  • Ultrasonic flaw detectors
  • Material tensile strength testers
  • Specialized equipment for sand mixture analysis

4. Scientific Research and Technological Capability

VEAM operates one dedicated Research and Design Institute focused on agricultural machinery, casting technology, materials science, and heat treatment. Additionally, it maintains a specialized R&D department for engines, automobiles, and tractors, supporting research, training, and technology transfer related to products and integrated production lines serving industry, agriculture, fisheries, construction, and afforestation.

With a team of experienced researchers and a strong track record in national-level research projects, VEAM has successfully executed numerous R&D, design, manufacturing, and technology transfer initiatives, including:

  • Design and manufacturing of engine, automobile, and tractor components and spare parts
  • Development of agricultural equipment such as rice mills, tractors, cultivation tools, and post-harvest processing systems for vegetables, roots, and fruits
  • Design, manufacturing, and technology transfer of livestock/poultry feed processing equipment and aquaculture systems
  • Technology consulting and transfer in casting, materials, and heat treatment
  • Scientific activities promoting sectoral development
